Premier S.P.I. - Automatic Pool Cleaners

What are Automatic Pool Cleaners?  Why do I need one?
Automatic pool cleaners take most of the work out of being a pool owner. Leaving you and your friends and your family more time to enjoy your pool. The right pool cleaner will take care of virtually all of the debris and will limit brushing to just stairs and ledges once in a while. Keeping your pool clean will keep your plaster in better shape longer.

How do I choose the right cleaner?
There are many great pool cleaners available on the market. Choosing the right one for your pool should be based on the type of pool you own and also the type of dirt you accumulate in your pool. Prices vary, don't choose based on price alone.

The two types of automatic pool cleaners

  1. Pressure or Sweep Cleaners, as the name implies, operate on water pressure that is returning to the pool. They sweep debris into the filter and also do a great job of leaf removal by catching all in an easy to remove bag. Most require an extra booster pump to provide adequate pressure.

  2. Suction or Vacuum Cleaners are energy efficient, easy to install, and require no booster pump. Suction pumps hook directly into skimmer or designated vacuum line. When the filter is turned on, the cleaner goes into action slowly vacuuming the debris from the sides and bottom of the pool. This type of cleaner does a great job on small dirt particles.

Most of the debris goes into the filter and is captured in a leaf canister for removal. This type of cleaner does not operate as efficiently when the filter is dirty, therefore requires more frequent filter cleanings.

If you have a lot of leaves and debris, a pressure system is what we recommend.

If you have a lot of dirt, a suction system is our choice for you.
