What are Submersible Pumps?
Submersible Pumps are lighter weight portable pumps that are used to drain low lying areas. Submersible pumps drain swimming pools and ponds quickly and easily. They remove large quantities of water on pool covers in no time flat. The average size pool can be drained overnight. They are also used for flood relief for homes, garages and basements.
How do they work? Submersible Pumps work on regular electrical current they can be plugged into an all weather extension cord and they also have the capabilities of working off a generator in more extreme conditions. All precautions should be taken to ensure your connections are in good condition and away from water. The pump must be underwater to operate. Always read and follow manufactures instructions.
What are the directions for use?
Submersible pumps are fairly straight forward in their operation.
- Connect the drain hose to the pump (some pumps do require a special hose , always ask when ordering).
- Make sure the hose is laid out to an area where the water can drain quickly away.
- Lower the pump so it is under water a small amount, plug it in and lower to the desired drain level.
- Monitor (you always want to make sure the pump is under some water).
- Unplug and lift out when finished.
