Winter Pool Maintenance
We hope everyone had a chance this summer to get out and enjoy their pools. It seems as though fall has finally hit here in Sacramento. With the passing of the season, we would like to give you a few helpful hints on winter pool maintenance. (If you live in a more extreme climate, you may want go to your local home improvement store and get further advice to protect your plumbing and pool/spa equipment.)

The autumn leaves will be falling soon in your pools. To give your equipment extra help between service days, It’s important to:

• Clean out pump baskets
• Clean out skimmer baskets
• Clean out the pool sweep leaf bags
• Clean your filter (to get a fresh start)
  
  
• Check automatic pool sweep for jammed objects (usually nuts and pods from trees)
• Use your pool net to manually remove heavy leaf accumulation
• Consider a pool cover
• Replace extinct Automatic pool cleaners
• Maintain the proper chemical balance

Keeping the receptacles clean improves suction allowing your pool sweep to do a more thorough job and your pump to run more efficiently (which may extend its life). Too many leaves in your pump and skimmer baskets and pool sweep leaf bags can burn out your pump motor. This can be quite costly, the last thing anyone needs with the holidays approaching.
